Dr. Errol Rummel is Director of Low Vision of New Jersey, serving New Jersey and the Philadelphia, PA area. Dr. Rummel’s expertise is in care of patients with difficult vision problems which are not helped by medicine, surgeries, or regular eye glasses. He is one of the few eye doctors who is certified as a Fellow of the International Academy of Low Vision Specialists (FIALVS). His protocols for examining people with poor vision and designing advanced optical technology are used by low vision specialists throughout the USA and Canada.

Dr. Rummel is an optometric physician with certification in a variety of special eye care fields of knowledge.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) which is awarded to optometric physicians who are respected, ethical, and knowledgeable.

Dr. Rummel is also a Fellow Emeritus of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FCOVD). This certification is in Vision Development and Vision Therapy.

He is also a Fellow Emeritus of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association (FNORA). This certification is related to the care of people with visual issues due to neurological issues like head injury, stroke, brain tumor, and multiple sclerosis.

Dr. Rummel has additionally developed an advanced optical technology system called Side Vision Awareness Glasses (SVAG), which allows those with neurological side vision loss (hemianopsia) due to stroke or brain injury or those with constricted fields (tunnel vision) caused by eye diseases like retinitis pigmentosa to be safer and more independent in their activities of daily living; and allows many to drive more safely.

Dr. Rummel has advanced training in the design of advanced optical technology with custom telescope glasses that allow those with poor vision to be able to read, see faces of loved ones and even drive more safely. He was awarded Fellowship in the International Academy of Low Vision Specialists (FIALVS), and treats vision impairment not being helped by regular glasses, medicine, or surgery (due to eye diseases like Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, Optic Nerve Disease and Retinitis Pigmentosa).
